Planning the Perfect Boy’s Night Out

Are you planning a boy’s night out in the city? The seasons are swiftly changing and now may be the last time before the holidays that you can get the gang together for a huge blow out. As with any major city, it can be difficult to time everything right. Once you’ve maneuvered everyone’s schedule into place, here are a few additional ways you can ensure the perfect night.
Call in Advance
Even if you can’t afford VIP bottle service (and in this city, who can?), it’s a good idea to call ahead to any of the venues you’re going to be checking out. Some of them may be having special events that make it more difficult to get in — others may be having promotions that make them more appealing. Check out their websites to find out more information on what’s going on before you stop by.
Ban the Cell Phones
The last thing someone wants to be worried about on a night out with their friends is incriminating pictures showing up on the Internet the next day — and, let’s face it, it’s boring to be out with a bunch of friends that keep texting other people. From significant others to employers, there are some things that just shouldn’t be tagged on social media. Let everyone relax by putting the cell phones down. It’s the perfect time to catch up with friends. You can even play a game: all phones go into a pile, and the first person to pick up theirs gets the next round.
Arrange for Transportation
Don’t lose your friends while waiting for public transportation. One of the best parts of a boy’s night out is hopping from location to location, and that’s incredibly difficult if you have to wait in between. Instead, arrange for chauffeured ground transportation. It’s an affordable, fast and easy way to get anywhere you want to go.
Philadelphia Limousine Service is one stop shop for all your ground transportation needs in the Greater Philadelphia Area. As one of the leading ground transportation companies in the Greater Philadelphia Area, we strive to provide the best service possible, with the highest regards to quality, passenger safety and customer satisfaction. Philadelphia Limo would be delighted to provide you with the service tailored to your exact requirements.
With the above tips, you’ll be ready for the night of your life. And, of course, it all applies to girl’s nights out, too!

Steer Clear of Ancillary Fees When Booking Executive Travel

In previous years the pricing models employed by companies offering business travel services was relatively transparent and easy to follow. Since the advent of comparison tables and websites, ancillary fees have crept in across a range of functions and services. This simple rule for business travel managers is to steer clear of these fees; however, doing that is easier said than done. This post gives you a few pointers to keep these fees down where possible.

Booking flights
The Ancillary fees for flights are relatively well known; check-in, seat selection, priority boarding, baggage, snacks, drinks and services. Airlines have truly un-packed all they offer these days and they’ll try and make you pay for it. The best way to find out what is the score is by looking at the small print to see if this is all included in the cost of the ticket. Baggage fees are an aspect that will probably affect all passengers but you may be able to negotiate a discount if you go direct to the provider. Another way of keeping these fees down is by encouraging traveler to just take carry-on luggage.

Booking accommodation
Hotels are attempting the same sorts of ploys as airlines to maximize profit. As with flying, look to see what is not included in the room fee. The two big sources of costs are parking and Wi-Fi.  Wi-Fi in particular, can be misleading; you may read that internet access is complimentary but the speed and coverage can leave something to be desired. Similarly the hotel may offer complimentary Wi-Fi just in the public area. As before, you need to check the details thoroughly and can potentially save by speaking to someone in person.

Ground Transportation
If you’re considering using a chauffeured car service, the general advice is the same as for other aspects of business travel. Find a reputable firm and check the details about what will potentially cost more. It is also worthwhile speaking to a representative to ensure you fully understand their pricing model. Some firms may charge for baggage fees or taxes, and gratuity is always an area that needs inquiry.

Hopefully this short post will allow you to get better, more cost effective business travel services for your hard working employees. Lies and Statistics

Lies, Damned Lies and Presenting Data
We all know the cliché: ‘there are lies, damned lies and statistics’. This is certainly true but there is another, far more common, way that we are misled – how data is presented. This short post dives into how data can be presented to draw various differing conclusions, so you’re aware and in the best place to make decisions.
Consider the following: ‘Our production capacity has doubled in 5 years’. Imagine how most busy people would have read the same information if more emphasis was placed on the time and less on the total capacity. Consider further the accompanying information: how have sales, productivity and market share varied during this time? The frame that data is presented in is critical to understanding the message that is conveyed.

Numbers, percentages and utility
We are often bombarded with facts, figures and data. All too often it does not actually mean very much. For example, instead of saying ‘approximately 400 children’ the size of the average primary school allows much faster visualizations. A ‘100 truck convoy’, for example, does not sound like a huge number but, if they are spaced at typical distances, ‘a 10km convoy’ may be more useful. The key of context should be clear but also trying to think what is it that I need to use this information for, can provide an insight into how exactly it should be presented.
Percentages can be similarly presented in all manner of ways. Pie charts are normally neutral but if bold colors are used then overall the focus can be easily, maybe intentionally, misrepresented. Sometimes small increases, expressed as a percentage, can sound more impressive than is actually the case. Similarly, a percentage must be related to some time period. If this time period is missing then you should automatically be skeptical.

We hope that these ideas, at the very least, arm you with the knowledge necessary to see the basic ideas behind the data.
