PPA Reaffirms Commitment for 150 New Wheelchair-Accessible Cabs Over Next 10 Years

In response to questions from disabled individuals, Philadelphia Parking Authority Executive Director Vince Fenerty reaffirmed the PPA’s commitment that all 150 new taxicab medallions that will be auctioned off over the next 10 years will be wheelchair-accessible taxicabs.
“The PPA Taxi and Limousine division has the statutory power to require all of the new 150 medallion taxicabs to be wheelchair-accessible vehicles. The disabled community can be assured that all 150 of these taxicabs will be wheelchair accessible,” Fenerty said.
The PPA will begin imposing this requirement on the 45 taxicab medallions authorized for sale this year.
