How to Pack: Never Be Caught Out Again

We’re an advocate of traveling with carry-on only luggage. When this approach is possible, it saves you time, effort and stress. It does however, pose a number of challenges. In this post you’ll find a whole host of tips to ensure your packing is as smart as possible, to make your travel experience as good as is possible.

Keep it clean
You really don’t want to travel with one critical item of clothing only to find it’s dirty at your destination. So take two of those free shower caps you find in most hotels and put them on your shoes, before putting them into your luggage. That way, your clothes will stay clean no matter how dusty your shoes get.  Similarly, you don’t want shampoo on your clothes after you bag’s been squished in the overhead locker, so get hold of some good quality "ziploc" bags that are both TSA friendly and will prevent you from an embarrassing spillage.
You don’t just want to look clean, you also need to be presentable and you clothes should smell good. One simple way to achieve both is to place a dryer sheet between your clothes – it’ll prevent creasing and keep you clothes smelling good.

Dirty kept apart
A lightweight laundry sack is a great way of keeping you dirty clothing separate from your clean laundry.  What’s more, at the end of the trip it’ll be a piece of cake to know what needs washing and what’s clean.
To save space, zip lock bags can be compressed open; until all the air is out and then closed to keep them compressed. Clothes themselves are best mixed and matched. This means picking a base color or theme and then taking numerous items and clothes that goes with it. A suit that is easily dressed down with a pair of slacks is a good example.
The other area you can save space and avoid a disaster is with charging equipment. A single power adapter for one device with several USB cables is much simpler than taking every single adapter with you and, if you travel internationally. It’ll also be much simpler to get the right adapter in your destination country correct rather than frying all your devices.

How To Avoid The Boring Lecture Feel At Your Next Event

Almost all of us remember the terrible feeling of being in a boring lecture or classroom; fighting the tiredness and looking at the clock that doesn’t move and wishing it would all end. Hopefully this is a distant memory and does not resemble the last event you attended or, worse still, put on.
Of course the content is king and will hopefully provide the most engagement but there are some simple things you can do to ensure that no matter what sort of show your speakers put on (and you can’t always control their ‘off days’), you event will not resemble the worst of  your school or college days.

Irresistible food experience
Regardless of how much you attempt to distinguish your event, many will just remember the food. Average food will bore but great food can inspire. It’s not just how it tastes but the way it’s served, how it looks, smells and how you explain where the ingredients are sourced and the passion that’s gone into it, that make up the food experience.

An interactive audience is engaged
Just like at school, the least receptive class or audience is the least engaged. When children nod off, good teachers will moderate their style; pose questions or attempt to regain the initiative. Your event should be no different: ensure you have an engaging program and make it easy for your attendees.

Think about what’s boring to your audience
There are aspects of almost any subject that are technical. While these details may be fascinating for real enthusiasts, for most attendees they must be correctly pitched to not seem boring. Pad details out with relevant information and give out ‘cool’ instead of ‘dull’ knowledge.

Smarter smartphones
For many reaching for the smartphones is a default reaction to a boring situation – we almost can’t control it. As an event manager, you need to dominate this space as well as the venue. Ensure you have a great app, that you have screens displaying the best content submitted by attendees and, above all, that you make it interactive.

As a proud partner for many involved in staging events in our home areas, Philadelphia Limousine hopes that this short post gives you some ideas to avoid your event being likened to a dull lecture. As a corporate and luxury ground transportation company, operating in Philadelphia, New Jersey, Delaware, New York we are proud to offer the highest quality of service for any corporate traveler or event. How to Lower Costs and Keep Travel Budgets on Track

Travel managers must accomplish an ever wide number of tasks; this requires a diverse skill set. One single skill that will deliver universal efficiencies is the ability to effectively negotiate. Negotiation is about getting the best long term deal for your company, while bearing all other relevant factors in mind. Today’s post brings you five simple tips to make your negotiation as effective as possible.

Simply Ask
There’s a saying about children: ‘quiet kids don’t get candy’. This is as true in travel negation as with children. If you don’t ask you, will never receive a better deal. By entering into conversation with the vendor, rather than a website or third partyyou could open up a world of possibilities. You will hear of everything from last minute deals to long running offers and will create a useful working relationship.

Use Effective Language
People cannot give you want you require if they don’t understand what it is you want. If you say: “how can I save money” people will know what it is that you want. A question such as “Is that all you can do” is likely to lead to a negative, one word response – effectively closing negotiations. You should see your negotiations and the language you use a start point to develop a solution, finding out about loyalty programs and late deals for example. Ask open, positive questions and have a goal in mind.
Turn Last-Minute to your advantage
The conventional logic is that anything booked at the last minute will cost more. This is not always the case: airlines and hotels will lose money if these last-minute seats and rooms go unsold. Armed with this knowledge you can be more effective in your negotiations. You’ll probably need to be assertive about your requirements and maybe need to ask to speak to someone authorized to give a better deal, but the results should be worth it. As with language use, it is an opportunity to build and continue a business relationship. Perhaps it will profit to explain just how loyal your company has been over the years.
Quote the most competitive deal
As with all things, you often get what you pay for: a cheap ground transportation company will have cut overhead costs and maybe have limited driver and dispatcher training, resulting in a much less effective service. By quoting the best price you can find however, you will compel your current provider to attempt to match it or explain why they can’t: you’ve nothing to lose.
Follow Through on Threats
Even the most dedicated companies can get sloppy if they start to see your custom as a sure thing. By gaining loyalty rewards with several travel companies you can have the flexibility of threatening to switch without losing too much. If a company is really not performing, you have no choice but to switch. This should not be a hollow threat and with more than one loyalty program in your pocket, it need not be.
